Access Initiatives
The future of Arizona shines as bright as the potential of the state's youth. Arizona State University has introduced a series of initiatives designed so that Arizona students can realize their own potential. The university is raising educational expectations of high school students, increasing the number of students who enroll at ASU to earn their bachelor's degree.
ASU's access initiatives are designed around the concept that early and continuous connections with students increase their understanding of the university experience and that through partnerships with high school districts, a stronger foundation exists for high school success and college preparation.
Known as Sun Devil Promise to Arizona families, USI has developed and implemented the following initiatives:
- Barack Obama Scholars, targeting financial aid to qualified Arizona students
- Collegiate Scholars, connecting exceptional Arizona high school students with ASU courses in their senior year
- Financial Aid Outreach, with financial aid staff dedicated to helping students and parents understand the aid process earlier
- Barrett Summer Scholars, encouraging high school scholars to partiicpate in summer immersion programs
- Hispanic Mother Daughter Program, a long-standing program of excellence in preparing Hispanic females to achieve in their higher education
- Strategic Partnerships with Arizona school districts
